Waterfront yards are tricky. The ground stays wet, the soil shifts, and soggy turf turns a great view into a frustrating mess. That's exactly what this homeowner was dealing with - a beautiful piece of property that just wasn't usable the way it was.

Here's what we were working with: a waterfront lot where the existing turf was constantly saturated and the yard had no real structure to it. The fix wasn't just cosmetic. We needed to address the drainage and grade issues first, then build something that could hold up right next to the water long-term. That's where the retaining wall came in. It defines the space, keeps everything in place, and gives the whole layout a clean edge between the hardscape and the landscaped areas.

From there, we laid the paver patio. The pattern and layout follow the natural curve of the seawall, which keeps the design feeling intentional rather than just dropped in. The warm-toned pavers tie in well with the home's exterior, and the finished surface gives the homeowner a solid, usable outdoor space where there used to be nothing but wet ground.

We also handled the artificial turf installation on this one. Rather than just replacing the old grass with more grass - which would have the same drainage issues all over again - we built out a putting green using artificial turf. It stays green, it stays dry, and it actually gets used. That's the whole point.

Waterfront properties need hardscape solutions that are built for the environment, not just built to look good in photos. The combination of a retaining wall, paver patio, and artificial turf here checks every box - drainage, durability, and usability.
