Front Yard Upgrade with Clusia Hedge, Palms, and White Rock

The before is pretty telling. Weeds pushing through the white rock, bare patches everywhere, and nothing pulling the yard together. The house itself was clean and well-kept - the landscaping just wasn't doing it any favors.

Here's what we worked with: an existing white rock base that had good bones but needed a full refresh. We kept the stepping stone path as the centerpiece and built everything around it. A row of clusia shrubs across the front gives the yard structure and some privacy as they fill in. Two palms flank the walkway on either side, adding height and that Florida feel without making the yard feel busy.

The plant selection was intentional. Clusia is tough - it handles heat, salt air, and drought better than most hedging plants, which makes it a smart pick for Florida front yards that need to look good without constant attention. Palms do the same thing. Once established, they take care of themselves. That's the whole point of a low-maintenance design.

White rock ties it all together and keeps the upkeep minimal. No grass to mow in the main yard bed, no constant trimming - just clean lines and plants that do their job. When the clusias grow in along the front, this yard is going to look completely different from the street.

Good curb appeal doesn't have to mean complicated. Sometimes it's just the right plants, the right ground cover, and a layout that makes sense for the space.
