Here's what we were working with - a front yard that had seen better days. Patchy, bare ground where grass used to be, overgrown beds full of debris, and old material that had just broken down over time. The kind of yard that makes the whole house look neglected, even when the house itself is in great shape.
We started by clearing everything out. The beds got stripped down, the overgrowth got hauled away, and we prepped the soil so we had a clean slate to work with. That prep step is everything - skip it, and nothing you put in afterward will look or perform the way it should.
Once the ground was ready, we laid fresh sod across the front yard and brought the beds back to life with new plants and dark river rock. The rock does double duty - it looks sharp and it cuts down on how much maintenance the beds need going forward. The new plantings give the beds structure without being high-maintenance.
The finished yard is a completely different property. Fresh green sod edge to edge, clean defined beds, and plants that actually have room to grow. That's the kind of curb appeal that makes a real difference - whether you're staying put or thinking about selling down the road.
