Front Yard Garden Bed Cleanup with Fresh Mulch and River Rock

A tired front yard doesn't take much to fix. Sometimes it just needs a clean slate - fresh mulch, a few well-placed plants, and a border treatment that actually holds up over time. That's exactly what we were working with here.

We started by cleaning out the existing bed, pulling weeds, and getting everything prepped. From there, we brought in fresh dark mulch and planted new crotons throughout the bed. Crotons are a great choice for Florida landscapes - bold color, low maintenance, and they thrive in the heat. The contrast against the dark mulch is sharp and clean.

The old turf border running along the driveway edge was swapped out for river rock. It's a simple change, but it makes a real difference. River rock holds its shape, doesn't need replacing, and gives the bed a more finished, polished look. No more edging that strip every few weeks either.

What we ended up with is a front yard that looks intentional. The curved stone edging ties the whole thing together, the planting layout feels balanced, and the rock border along the driveway gives the entire front a neat, clean line. Small upgrades done right add up fast when it comes to how a home looks from the street.
