This St. Pete Beach backyard had a brand new pool and basically nothing else around it. Just bare ground, exposed soil along the fence line, and a whole lot of potential. The homeowner wanted something that looked sharp, required almost zero upkeep, and actually gave the space a purpose beyond just swimming.

Here's what we ended up with - a custom-shaped putting green with multiple holes, artificial turf throughout the main yard area, a clean rock border bed running along the fence packed with tropical plants, and it all ties together with the existing pavers around the pool. Every piece of it was designed with low maintenance in mind. No mowing. No irrigation headaches. No weeding through a mulch bed every few weeks.

The putting green is a great example of what artificial turf can do beyond just replacing grass. We shaped it to fit the yard naturally, built in the contours for a realistic roll, and it sits right off the paver patio so you can go from the pool to the green without missing a beat. That kind of multi-use thinking is what separates a good backyard from a great one.

Along the fence line, we laid a gravel rock bed and planted a mix of bromeliads, cordylines, and tropical palms. Rock beds like this are a smart move in Florida - they drain well, they don't wash out, and they keep the weeds from taking over. The plants were chosen specifically because they thrive in this climate with minimal fuss. It all looks intentional because it was.

The before photos tell the whole story. Bare ground, a measuring wheel, and a plan. The after is a backyard that actually works - for relaxing, for entertaining, and yes, for getting your short game dialed in.
