Here's what we were starting with - weeds taking over, overgrown shrubs pushing into the walkways, and a backyard that felt more like a jungle than a place to relax. No defined beds, no clean lines, just a lot of stuff growing where it shouldn't be. It's a pretty common situation, especially in Florida where everything grows fast and doesn't slow down.
We cleared everything out and started fresh. Fresh sod went down across the main lawn area, giving the yard a clean, even surface that ties the whole space together. Alongside that, we installed new rock beds running the length of the fence line and tucked in new plantings - low-growing shrubs and a bird of paradise that fit the tropical feel of the property without being high-maintenance.
The rock installation was a big part of making this low-maintenance long-term. River rock along the fence line keeps weeds from creeping back in and looks sharp against the white vinyl fence. No constant trimming, no mulch breaking down and washing away - just a clean, finished look that holds up.
What we ended up with is a yard that actually works with the space. The sod gives the homeowner a usable lawn, the rock beds frame it cleanly, and the new plantings add character without adding a ton of upkeep. The whole feel of the backyard shifted - from something that was being avoided to something worth spending time in.
That's the goal on every job like this. Not just cleaning up the mess, but setting the yard up so it stays looking good without constant attention. Sod installation and rock and mulch work done right makes a real difference in how a property feels day to day.
